Sang Sang Rinpoche

In 1959, Sang Sang Rinpoche was born to Mr. Pasang and Mrs. Tsering Yudron. His birth was accompanied by extraordinary signs and from a very young age, he clearly remembered his previous life and recited texts in meditative posture, through having awakened good karmic imprints. Due to these extraordinary feats, his parents informed Dhephuk Rinpoche, who consulted H.H. the 16th Karmapa and Trushik Rinpoche. They all agreed to enthrone him at Senge Phuk in Solukhumbu in 1965 as the incarnation of Lama Tenzin Chodar. Lama Tenzin Chodar was a hidden yogi and a close disciple of the previous Trulshik Rinpoche, Kunzang Tokdol Dorje. He is also the father of the present Trulshik Rinpoche.
Qualifications:
- He began preliminary studies of Buddhism with Ngawang Sangye and Ngawang Tashi in Solukhumbu. There he received many teaching from Trulshik Rinpoche.
- He went to Rumtek, at the advice of Trulshik Rinpoche and Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, to study under H.H. the 16th Karmapa at Rumtek, where he studied for twelve years (1968-1979) with over thirty other rinpoches.
- After receiving the three vows in the Kagyu lineage, teachings, reading transmissions and empowerments from H.H. the 16th Karmapa, he practiced accordingly and was given the title “Vajra Master” in 1980 by the Karmapa, who sent him to Nepal.
- He received oral transmission of the Kangyur (Buddha’s word) as well as empowerment and transmission of the Rinchen Terzo, Chokling Tersar, Damngakzo and Jatson Podruk from Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche.
- He received many of the profound Nyingma teachings from Trulshik Rinpoche at Thupten Choeling Monastery, such as ritual of the Mindroling tradition, as well as the empowerments, reading transmission and instructions for the Nyingma Kama, the Nyingtik Yapshi, and the Nyingtik Tsapo, among others. He also served as vajra master at Thupten Choeling.
- He received the Dudjom Tersar from Dudjom Rinpoche and 100 Chod practice and Dzogchen Nyingtik Yapshi from Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche.
- He received Jangter Dzogchen Gongpa Sangthal and Terchoe of Dewi Dorje from Depuk Rinpoche, as well as received instructions from other realized master like H.H. the Dalai Lama, Sakya Trizin, Chogye Tri Rinpoche and Kalu Rinpoche.
Activities:
- He did several retreats at Thupten Choeling Monastery, Maratika and Pharing in addition to being vajra master there.
- At the request of Dhephuk Rinpoche in 1981, he consecrated and performed the opening ceremony of the Lhundup Choling monastery in Ramechhap district which had been reconstructed after it burnt down. Since then he has taught there annually and done retreat there for three or four months.
- He took responsibility for the Pangpoche Retreat Centre in Solukhumbu after Dhephuk Rinpoche passed away. He then discovered the reincarnation of Dhephuk Rinpoche, who was confirmed by Trulshik Rinpoche.
- He has represented Trulshik Rinpoche four times since 1995 in the Mani Rildup festival in Solukhumbu. He also represented Trulshik Rinpoche in consecrating Serlo Monastery, where he gave empowerments, transmissions and instructions to monks, local people and foreigners.
- He requested Trulshik Rinpoche to give empowerments for the Minling Terchen collection called the Druptap Dojo Bumzan and the Dudjom Tersar, which took place.
- He established the Lhundrup Choling Monastery in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu in 2000, which was consecrated by Trulshik Rinpoche and Shamar Rinpoche.
- He has traveled to several centers in Taiwan and Hong Kong at the request of Shamar Rinpoche and Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche and has also traveled to Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, India, Russia and the USA to propagate the Buddhist teachings and benefit beings.
